7/03/2010 - Bad news for Whitchurch this week as the bulldozers smashed down the Railway Hotel, despite there being no planning permission in place for a change of use...see: LITTLE LEFT.
This wanton destruction by PubCos and developers must be halted by legislation or we will not have ANY pubs left. Just hours before the demolition the bar was still set with trophies on the walls and even beer mats still on the tables - but did Punch Taverns and Lochailort Investments care - not a jot! And there was even someone willing to run it as a pub!

22/02/2010 - The Dever Stores in Sutton Scotney is becoming an outlet for bottle-conditioned real ales, focussing on Hampshire breweries, and a few just over the border. Bowmans, Andwell, Ballards, and others have all been featured. Why not pop in and enjoy a selection from their range? - Reported by john pb

21/02/2010 - The Purefoy Arms, Preston Candover - Took our visitors to lunch on Sunday after our recce last week. Sunday lunch at £10 may not be the cheapest we've ever paid, but the meal was certainly the best we've had in a long time. (see the menu at www.thepurefoyarms.co.uk). To make the visit even more enjoyable, Andwells was the guest this week and in top form. Bishops Finger was also on offer but not tried. If you're passing, it's well worth the stop. - Reported by BoRo

15/02/2010 - Woolpack Inn, Totford - Visited the Woolpack Inn at Totford on Friday 12 February. They had 3 real ales on handpump: 'Woolpack bitter', a house beer brewed by Andwell (I was told it was their 'King John'), Palmers Coopers Ale and Andwell's Gold Muggler. Had a pint of the Palmers which was acceptable but a little too cold, a point the deputy manager agreed with. They intend to sort out the temperature and the price of the beer was £2.95. It is a hotel and has several rooms available ranging from £75 to £130 per night. Food looks good quality and reasonably priced for the style of establishment. The only difficulty is that it's in the middle of nowhere. The deputy manager seemed keen to make contact with CAMRA and possibly get some input from them. - Reported by David Newman

13/02/2010 - Purefoy Arms, Preston Candover - I was told that the Purefoy was selling excellent Landlord, so I decided to give it a try, as I have not been back for some time after having an indifferent pint in inhospitable surroundings. It has changed hands, the new people having taken over last August. It is a different place. Although there was no Landlord, there was Otter Bitter at £2.80 in superb condition. Wadworths 6X was on offer but not tried. On Saturday lunchtime the pub was busy, most people eating from an exciting menu. On the way back it looks as thought the Crown at Axeford has re-opened. - Reported by BoRo
