Axe The Beer Tax - Budget day: 22 April 2009 - Despite the loss of 2000 pubs and 20,000 jobs in the past year alone, the Chancellor has refused to listen to public opinion and has raised Beer Tax yet again. The future of British pubs is at stake. Make sure your voice is heard by lobbying your MP on Mr Darling's decision. Click here for more details on how to sign-up and support our "Axe The Beer Tax - Save The Pub" campaign.

CAMRA LocAle is a new accreditation scheme to promote pubs that sell locally-brewed real ale. Participants in the trial scheme in Nottingham reported increased beer sales, so why not replicate their success by joining the CAMRA LocAle promotion? - click here to read more information about LocAle

CAMRA's National Beer Scoring System - You can help us select pubs that will go into CAMRA's Good Beer Guide by scoring the beer that you drink in pubs throughout the North Hampshire branch area. The surveying will carry on all-year-round. You will need a CAMRA membership in order to access this site: CAMRA's National Beer Scoring System.

ABOUT US - CAMRA is the Campaign for Real Ale

Cask Ale   CAMRA is the only consumer group in the UK dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional pubs, independent breweries and real ale. We campaign for greater appreciation of traditional beers, ciders and perries as part of our national heritage and culture. There are over 95,000 members in the organisation. Find out more about CAMRA on the national website: www.CAMRA.org.uk

We are the North Hampshire branch of CAMRA, which is part of the Wessex CAMRA region. The branch is run by volunteers that are elected by branch members. Our campaigning centres on the district surrounding the towns of Basingstoke and Andover.

We enjoy an active social and campaigning diary, with regular visits to pubs, breweries and beer festivals throughout Hampshire and the neighbouring counties. You will find an up-to-date branch diary on these pages. Leave your email address and we will let you know of forthcoming social events as they are planned so you do not miss a night out!

The role of the rural British pub as a cohesive centre of its community has never been more important than it is today, and yet a record number have ceased to trade in recent years. Here in North Hampshire, we have actively campaigned over the years for greater protection for public houses.

Please visit our Campaigns page to find out more about the local and national issues that we have been involved with.

Beer Festivals   We hold popular Beer Festivals in our area including the Hampshire Downs Beer Festival in Overton. We also reward the pubs and clubs in our area that are judged to maintain excellent standards of beer, with Awards of Merit and the North Hampshire CAMRA Pub of the Year award.

If you would like to join us in protecting our traditional ales, ciders and perries by campaigning and staffing our beer festivals, why not become a member of CAMRA today?
